Announcing Flat Stanley Jr

Based on the best-selling book series, Stanley folds his way around the world with his flat-tastic hijinks. In a whirlwind musical travelogue, Stanley is stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood and France to Honolulu and beyond.

Performances will be Friday, Oct 19, 2018 at 7:30 and Saturday, Oct 20, 2018 at 2:30 and 7:30 at the Sherwood Center for the Arts.

Auditions

Auditions are September 4th-5th 3:30-6pm and are open for students in 4th-12th grade. Callbacks will be by invitation only on September 7th 3:30-6pm.

Students should prepare 32 bars of a song with a karaoke track, preferably Broadway style. Bring your track on an ipod or mp3 device with compatible headphone connector. A piano will be available if you’d like to bring your own accompanist instead.

Some things to think about as you prepare – STAGE PRESENCE (are you comfortable and confident onstage), VOICE (volume, diction, tone, pitch), and CHARACTER (are you telling the audience the “story” of your song).

Please note, the format is a little different – Auditions are run in groups. Your audition will begin at the start time and last for the entire block. Please arrive 10 minutes early and plan on staying the entire 90 minutes. You will sing your prepared audition song and learn a short group dance. Please wear clothes and shoes you can move in.

  • Sign up for a spot here. SPACE IS LIMITED

  • Please print this audition form, complete it with your parent/guardian and bring it with you to auditions.

  • A copy of our company rules is available here.

  • Tips on the how to audition and the casting process are here.

Tuition and Volunteers

It takes a village as they say and theater productions are no different! We love our volunteers and couldn’t do it without you. If you’re interested in set construction or painting, costuming, hunting for props, or don’t mind what you’re doing if it’s surrounded by some awesome friends – sign up here or contact us to find out how you can help!

Tuition for our musical theater program this year will be $95 plus a minimum of 8 volunteer hours for the production. We will offer an opt-out fee of $80 to be excused from the volunteer hours required.

Students will also need to provide basic makeup, modesty wear, and shoes. The tuition will cover a show t-shirt and script for each student, and help with the remaining production costs of sets, props, lighting, sound, and more!
