You don’t need to go to Portland to experience the joyful sounds of holiday music and a first-rate performance. Come celebrate the season right here in Sherwood as the Voices for the Performing Arts (VPA) presents its annual “The Spirit of Christmas” concert, Dec. 10 at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM, at the Sherwood High School Performing Arts Center. The concert benefitting Sherwood schools will showcase all of the VPA choirs–Sherwood Children’s Choir, Notables, Footnotes and Sherwood Chorale–with guest musicians and featuring Dave Sweeney as Master of Ceremonies. This is much more than a choir concert. With the variety in music, choreography and staging, it is a show! Traditional sacred and secular pieces will be presented along with a few new pieces in this entertaining and family-friendly program. With the theme of “postcards” interwoven throughout, don’t be surprised if you find yourself motivated to get those cards out early! Tickets are $7.50 and can be purchased in advance online at vpafoundation.org or at Let’s Make Music in Old Town Sherwood. Tickets may be available at the door as well. Doors open at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
