The Sherwood Chorale is made up of adults of all ages, and a select few high school students. They sing a variety of music including pop, Broadway, jazz, art and folks songs, spirituals, and sacred and secular music from many eras.
The Chorale rehearses September through May with a break after Christmas. The choir, directed by Cindy Christensen, has many goals including musical excellence in performance and steady musical growth in rehearsal.
In addition to the musical goals, friendship and Choir family spirit are also objectives. Many members are long standing members who arrange their schedules so as to be able to participate each season because “it’s just a lot of fun”. Auditions are held each September with limited auditions sometimes available in January. Balance in the sections of the choir is always a priority so openings depend on the number of people returning, but usually the choir roster is around 32 members. Most members have sung in many previous choirs including high school, college and community choirs. See the Sherwood Chorale perform in VPA benefit concerts the 2nd weekend of December and May.
Note: Next auditions will be September 5 and 6, 2012. Watch for a sign-up sheet in August (this will be announced on our blog).
Please bring a completed Sherwood Chorale Audition Packet with you to your audition. You’ll also need to complete a Sherwood Chorale Health and Emergency Information Form and bring it to your first rehearsal.
