Footnotes Girls Choir, 6-8th grade

Directed by Cindy Christensen with dance instruction by Shelley Christensen

This choir’s emphasis is Pop and Show tunes with choreography and dancing. The choir may also include some traditional styles and other genres. A strong understanding of music, and experience on stage is needed, and dancing experience is desirable, but not mandatory. Singing in harmony, and being flexible in singing different voice parts is optimal. Regular rehearsal attendance is required as are certain performances. This choir has a tuition fee, and scholarships are available for financial need.

Auditions

The next auditions for Footnotes will be held in May 2012 for the following school year, there are no mid-year auditions for Footnotes.

The audition will proceed as follows:

3:00-3:30 A simple dance combination will be taught to the auditioners

3:30-4:30 All students will dance for the directors, and sing in small groups for the singing portion of the audition. Previous Footnotes members will be grouped together and new auditioners will be grouped together. The singing part of the audition will include solfege singing, pitch matching, scale singing and rehearsing back a simple song that will be taught during the audition.

Registration

Download the registration packet and bring to the first class/rehearsal with proof of payment or a check for the full tuition amount.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will be Thursdays from 3:15-4:45 PM at SMS portable #40 starting Sept. 22. Each rehearsal will include a dance portion from 3:00-3:30 directed by Shelley Christensen, with the remainder of the rehearsal directed by Cindy Christensen. (no relation!) This group will be limited to 15-16 singers.

Tuition

Tuition for one school year, Sept. 13-Dec.13 and Jan 10-May 22 is $345 including some concert attire, + $15 polo shirt.

Tuition Payments

Two payment options:

1. Pay in full online, or turn in with registration at first rehearsal.

2. Pay in 4 installments online: 4 installments at $86.25 + $3.75 PayPal fee = $90 for Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec.
